The Developing Trumpet
The trumpet, an instrument belonging to the woodwind or brass group, is usually composed of brass or bronze and is comprised of: a mouthpiece, horn end, a spit valve, and keys. Trumpets are instruments operating fully chromatic because trumpets contain three different buttons for tone manipulation. Some of them also include a trigger mechanism to correct unwanted sounds by the use of the main note buttons. This line can be used during play and the effect is so slight that the audience would not notice. The spit valve is included to clear any mucus that has made its way into the trumpet. The history of this instrument is rather astonishing and trumpets go as far back in time; as far in history as 2000 B.C.
